Managing the disposition of legacy records can be overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be. In this focused webinar, we’ll dive into tangible, high‑impact first steps to help law firms launch a defensible, efficient disposition program.

Based on “Legacy Disposition Program Series: Article Two—Tangible First Steps,” this session explores:

Framing the Program with a Purpose. Learn how to align your initiative with firm priorities—whether it’s reducing storage costs, addressing privacy mandates like GDPR or CCPA, or streamlining cloud migration.

Building a Strategic Foundation. Discover how to assess your information environment, establish interdepartmental partnerships (especially with IT and legal), and recruit an effective program sponsor—tailored for law firm culture and risk appetite.

Attendees will walk away with a clear roadmap for:

Scoping a manageable yet impactful pilot—focusing on electronic or paper archives, legacy data, client files, or admin records.

Leveraging IT resources for data mapping, reporting, and governance.

Defining metrics and key performance indicators—like ROI, space reduction, and retention compliance—to ensure your program gains traction and visibility from the start.

This webinar is ideal for information governance professionals, records managers, and legal operations leaders seeking practical, real-world guidance—not theory—on launching a legacy disposition program.

Join us at 10:00am Pacific for Bruce Miller’s enlightening session as part of ARMA’s Spring Seminar Mania 2025. 9:30-10:00 networking.

Microsoft Purview will manage your electronic records! Yes it can, but deploying it is far from straightforward. Purview is a very challenging product to learn and deploy in a genuine records-compliant setting. Separate the marketing hype from the recordkeeping reality with this ground-breaking session from someone who truly understands records management, and is NOT trying to sell you the product. Purview has its own unique language, completely foreign to records management, and here you’ll learn how to speak it. Understand Purview’s critical shortcomings and limitations, with effective workaround strategies and methods. Learn how to deploy Purview safely to achieve genuine recordkeeping compliance. This session is NOT a Webinar-like stream of “What Purview can do”. Instead, you’ll learn how to translate its language to real-world records management, what works well and not so well, what to avoid, and practical workarounds for serious limitations. This session is delivered by Bruce Miller, author, educator, independent consultant, leading expert in electronic recordkeeping, and author of “Managing Records in Microsoft SharePoint”. He has no stake in Purview sales or services, and calls it as he sees it. Bruce will navigate you through the complexities of Purview in simple, understandable recordkeeping terms you can relate to. You’ll finally be able to understand Purview and learn what it really takes to deploy it in a real-life electronic recordkeeping project.

Biography Bruce Miller, MBA, IGP is a world leading expert on electronic recordkeeping. He is an independent consultant, an author, and an educator. He has spent his entire career in electronic recordkeeping. Widely regarded as the inventor of modern electronic recordkeeping software, he pioneered the world’s first commercial electronic recordkeeping software in 1989. In 1997 he achieved the world’s first e-Records software certification against the US DoD 5015.2-STD standard, and has since presided over several successful software certifications. In 1999 he developed the world’s first e-Records software engine for business software. That year he received ARMA Canada’s National Capital Region’s Ted Ferrier Award of Excellence for his contribution to the field of records management. Bruce’s software was the first technology in the world to be certified against the revised 5015.2 June 2002 standard. In 2002 his company was acquired by IBM, where he served for three years as IBM’s global e-Records Strategy and Business Development Executive. At IBM he was honored as a Technical Leader, one of only 439 out of 360,000 IBM employees. Mr. Miller is the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Emmett Leahy Award, considered the highest international recognition given to professionals in the field of information and records management. He publishes numerous papers and reports, and his book “Managing Records in Microsoft SharePoint 2010” was an ARMA best seller. Bruce holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, a Masters in Business Administration from Queen’s University, and is a certified Information Governance Professional.

The September meeting is all about what the Greater Seattle Chapter (GSC) and ARMA International can do for members. We want every chapter meeting to be a collegial, valuable addition to your professional life. In this first chapter meeting of the season, we will cover how to find and access GSC and ARMA resources. We also want to hear from chapter members about the resources and tools that you use and help you grow in the profession. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, join your fellow RIM enthusiasts, and get the most out of your ARMA membership and the GSC this year.
