Biography Bruce Miller, MBA, IGP is a world leading expert on electronic recordkeeping. He is an independent consultant, an author, and an educator. He has spent his entire career in electronic recordkeeping. Widely regarded as the inventor of modern electronic recordkeeping software, he pioneered the world’s first commercial electronic recordkeeping software in 1989. In 1997 he achieved the world’s first e-Records software certification against the US DoD 5015.2-STD standard, and has since presided over several successful software certifications. In 1999 he developed the world’s first e-Records software engine for business software. That year he received ARMA Canada’s National Capital Region’s Ted Ferrier Award of Excellence for his contribution to the field of records management. Bruce’s software was the first technology in the world to be certified against the revised 5015.2 June 2002 standard. In 2002 his company was acquired by IBM, where he served for three years as IBM’s global e-Records Strategy and Business Development Executive. At IBM he was honored as a Technical Leader, one of only 439 out of 360,000 IBM employees. Mr. Miller is the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Emmett Leahy Award, considered the highest international recognition given to professionals in the field of information and records management. He publishes numerous papers and reports, and his book “Managing Records in Microsoft SharePoint 2010” was an ARMA best seller. Bruce holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, a Masters in Business Administration from Queen’s University, and is a certified Information Governance Professional.

“Artificial Intelligence, Privacy, Digitization, and the Role of Information Governance”

Tom Corey, Of Counsel

Tom works to assist organizations with their information governance, privacy, and artificial intelligence governance programs. Tom takes a complex array of laws, regulations, and requirements and strives to create policies, procedures, and programs that are easy to understand, implement, and monitor. Tom is a Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).

Will Davis, Associate

Will Davis assists his clients with a variety of data privacy, information governance, and eDiscovery challenges. These challenges often involve both international and domestic data privacy and security guidelines/standards, marketing communication laws, and/or complex regulatory frameworks. He understands the importance of robust collaboration, specifically when tackling data privacy, information governance, and eDiscovery related issues. Will has been designated as an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) and is an IAPP certified U.S., European, and Canadian Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US/E/C) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). Will is also a OneTrust Certified Privacy Professional (OCPP) and has received the ACEDS eDiscovery Executive Certificate (eDEx).

Cricket Wood, Information Governance Analyst

Cricket Wood is an Information Governance Analyst who strives to serve clients with excellent technology skills and a keen ability to manage a portfolio of projects across many industries.

Cricket has extensive experience assisting clients with managing the information lifecycle from creation through defensible disposition, implementing data retention policies and strategies, analyzing, and improving information governance and eDiscovery processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk and cost, and assessing legal and regulatory risks associated with onboarding and offboarding new technology platforms.

This session will examine the benefits and drawbacks of using AI large language models—like ChatGPT—at various points in the policy development process. We’ll examine what generative language technology does well, what it does poorly, and where its output can be put to good use.

This interactive session will start with a 5-minute introduction, followed by a 15-minute discussion in breakout groups and then a 30-40-minute plenary discussion where we will examine the groups’ ideas.
