It’s that time of year again. Our last meeting of the ARMA fiscal year is June 6^th. Emily Lemieux from the University of Washington will give an update on the case study of how the RMS team at UW drove the University toward a paperless environment.  It is also time to elect next year’s Board; if you would like to join our lively band of leaders, we have two open positions: Vice President and Membership Chair.  We are also looking for members who would be interested in learning more about the Secretarial and Treasurer positions.  We promise there will be training and, believe it or not, no huge time commitment is required.  If you have questions or would like more information, you can reach out to me at WendyG@vnw.com or Lynn O’Shea at jlnoshea@uw.edu.

Born out of necessity in 2021, when gathering together with colleagues was not a viable option for chapters, the greater Midwest ARMA chapters forged untraveled (virtual) territory. These chapters came together and through a lot of hard work, creativity, technology, and passion, the very first Spring Seminar Mania was held. It was a colossal success! We found this format was so much more than a novelty during those challenging times. It has evolved into a practical, sustainable, and boundaryless way for all of us to join together for our common interests, participate in educational sessions, and network with colleagues from all over the country.

16 ARMA Chapters have partnered to provide 16 free educational sessions during April and May. Our program participants span the country, from Washington state to Florida, expanding our regional diversity far beyond the Midwest. Peter Frix, President FreeDoc and Seattle ARMA Chapter member, has worked with enterprise data systems since 1984.

By re-aligning the way institutions manage information, both public and private, Peter has made the case for productivity increases of 32% to 78%. What may seemingly appear as a compliance initiative can result in financial improvement and employee satisfaction when objectives are realigned for business purposes.

Using his long-term experience in national B2B sales he has demonstrated the linkage between having the correct access for individuals to historical data and the financial results of the enterprise. Following this experience, multiple CFO’s of Puget Sound hospitals were able to achieve similar financial results, by realigning information management with business objectives. Here are two examples:

John Smith, CFO, Good Samaritan Hospital – avoided needing to hire FTE’s

Mike Brown, CFO, Evergreen Hospital – 22% reduction in utilities and janitorial expense
