Program Title: Managing Records in Highly Regulated Environments: BioTech, Utilities, and Investment Company

Description: Three records managers and one cyber security officer will talk about challenges of managing highly regulated records; focusing on the benefits and difficulties of retention scheduling, working with organizational employees, and external auditors. Also touching on cyber or electronic information recordkeeping requirements currently found in these organizations and possibly what might be coming to the other institutes.

Speakers Profile:

Fran Blaylock, CRM is currently working at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a Document Control Administrator. Previous engagements include positions in the biotech, construction, and power utility industries. As an 18 year member of ARMA and the Bellevue/Eastside chapter, Fran, currently the BEC Treasurer, has filled numerous positions on the board, including a 4 year commitment as a region coordinator. She is dedicated to the Records and Information Management profession and her local chapter.

Joy Sage, CRM, is the Reliability & Compliance Supervisor at Tacoma Power, where she is responsible for Tacoma Power’s adherence to organizational records management practices, ensuring compliance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards, and cyber security awareness and training. Joy has nearly ten years of records management experience, and prior to taking on her current role, worked as Tacoma Power’s ECMS Lead.

Zach Tanko is a Critical Infrastructure Protection Auditor with Tacoma Power where he is a core member of the Reliability and Compliance group. Before devoting all his time to Critical Infrastructure Protection, he was an Assistant Professor of Networking and Information Security at Champlain College, Burlington, Vermont. Zach has a background in penetration testing as well as in intrusion detection. He has also presented at several cyber security conferences and workshops.

Tim Westhoff, CRM is the records manager for Capital One Investing, LLC. He has been a member of the Greater Seattle ARMA chapter since 1997. Tim has been managing records in regulated industries for 16 years – first at Immunex, and since 2005 at ShareBuilder/Capital One. He has been a Certified Records Manager for 10 years, and is a frequent contributor at local ARMA meetings. Tim has a degree in History from Seattle University and a Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Washington. He lives in Burien with his wife and two daughters.

I-5 North: Take the Seneca Street. Exit. Slight left onto Seneca street. Take a right onto 4th Avenue and follow until Union St. The entrance to the parking garage is on Union between 1st and 2nd Avenue

1-5 South: Take the Union Street Exit and proceed to 2nd Avenue. The entrance to the parking garage is on Union St. between 1st and 2nd Avenue
