Preparing for and Working through Litigation: The Collaboration Between Records Managers and Attorneys

Well prepared records managers are a key to the success of any organization during litigation. When attorneys effectively work in collaboration with a records manager, the discovery portion of litigation runs more smoothly and is more effective. During this presentation, we will share our experience working with records managers, both in preparation for and during litigation.

Keith Talbot is an attorney with Patterson, Buchanan, Fobes, and Leitch, a full service law firm in Seattle and Portland. Keith has been a litigator with Patterson Buchanan since 2007, handling hundreds of lawsuits and pre-lawsuit matters. All of these matters included some form of discovery work and Keith has had the privilege of working with dozens of records managers, including Seth Dalby, Director of the Archives and Records Management for the Seattle Archdiocese. Keith attended Carlton College (undergrad) and Duke University (law school).

Callie Lee is a third-year attorney with Patterson, Buchanan, Fobes, and Leitch. Callie has participated in discovery work for both public and private entities. Prior to her employment at Patterson Buchanan, Callie worked as an attorney at a Midwest law firm, where she primarily practiced in the fields of medical malpractice and tort litigation. In this capacity, one of her roles involved working with various providers to identify and obtain relevant discovery related to the defense of her clients. Callie attended Northern Illinois University for both undergrad and law school.
